Mount network drive on Linpus Linux Netbook?

Q. Is there easy way (for a complete linux newbie) to mount network drive on linpus linux netbook? I don't even know how to enter the commands on linpus linux although I have lots of experience on WIndows systems. TIA for your help.

A. Linux can read and write to most file formats. There are several ways to do this
The below assumes you have set up network security properly and have access rights to the drive

From the command line:

use the mount command

mount -t (type) device) (dir)
where type is the type of device the drive is
device is what the device is
dir is what the root director is

hint enter man mount at the command line to see the manual pages for the mount command for a fuller explanation and for correct syntax

On a GUI

Use the GUI to navigate the network to the drive you want to access
right mouse on the drive
mount the drive

Wish I could be more help, but I'm not sure what distro you are running

Good Luck and Welcome to Linux

What is linux netbook operating system?
Q. I know that it is an operating system, but what does that even mean? I have windows vista now, and heard that linux is better, but I'm not even sure what it is supposed to be better at!

Can it go on any type of computer?

Also, what is the cost?

A. Linux is an alternate operating system similar in many ways to Unix. It was invented by Linus Torvalds. The core of the operating system is available for free. There are many companies that distribute linux with various different bundles of software. I prefer OpenSuse however Ubuntu or Kubuntu is often considered easier for the average end user.

Why is it better?

More secure
more stable
faster
free

Did i mention it was free?

Not all hardware out there has drivers for Linux so no; it won't run <any> computer but You can run linux on more different computers than MS Vista. There are linux versions that will run with very old hardware and it can run on very modern systems so you have a lot more flexibility. I have a customer that is using 3000 old 486 machines from their surplus now because Linux is so much faster and more efficient and can work on those older systems and make a functional machine out of what would otherwise be junk and my machine here is running a quad athlon with Nvidia 9900 graphics on quad monitors and 32GB of Ram with OpenSuse 11.1. Life is good :D

How do you download stuff onto a Linux eee netbook? 10 points!?
Q. It is an Asus eee Linux 900 netbook, and I can't figure out how to download stuff onto it. I want to get the flash player, and stuff like that, but it just says where do you want to put it on your computer, and I pick a place, and it doesn't work. Please help!
Thanks,
Ferretowner96

A. The Asus eee Linux 900 netbook runs Xandros Linux, running KDE desktop and IceWM.

I think you have to enable the "Desktop mode" then you get complete control of the KDE desktop, it's likely in a "netbook" mode as default. Like Ubuntu Netbook edition is, so read the manual how to enable desktop mode.

Also you want to search around for the Synaptic Package Manager, search and enable the Adobe Flash and then install it. They do it this way so you can enable multiple installs.

Later you might want to install Macbuntu and make your eeePC look like you installed a bootleg copy of OS X.

(note: you will have to do a total install of the Macbuntu ISO via USB key using Windows and LinuxLive USB Creator, as it uses Ubuntu and Gnome desktop, any and all files have to be removed first)
